Adult Classes:

Film Acting (Adults 18+) The Film Acting program involves a combination of scene study and film technique. Actors learn about the technical challenges of acting for film, as well as how to master the unique problems associated with a believable filmed performance. The Basics Class runs for eight sessions, and covers in-class exercises and a variety of approaches, plus on-camera work designed to duplicate the filming process. We examine the many different approaches to scene study, keeping in mind that no single technique works for every actor.
Sunday nights, 8 – 10pm/$125 per month, minimum two month commitment.

The Int/Advanced students work on techniques geared toward specific scenes and goals. The technique classes andf exercises change from session to session, depending on both the chosen material and the needs of the actors. Some of our students have taken this class several times: each actor has a program tailored specifically for what they wish to accomplish over the session, and scene challenges are selected with those goals in mind. This class is heavy on multi-camera shooting, and often requires location shooting. Class enrollment is limited in order to provide as much screen time as possible for each student. Students are provided with edited copies of their scenework at the end of each session. Includes scene study, multi-camera taping, character study, and technique.

Teen Classes (ages 14 -18):

Covers the nuts and bolts of film acting for teens, Includes study of the many techniques available to actors through in-class exercises. Teens also will learn about the filmmaking process both from an actor’s and technical standpoint, with hands-on work on both sides of the camera. This class includes scene study, multi-camera taping, character study, and technique. This is a great class for beginners as well as a wonderful class for experienced teen stage actors who would like to learn (and master!) the differences between theater and film.
Monday evenings, 7:30pm – 9:30pm/through June, moves back to Thursday nights 6:30 - 9:00pm in July. 12 weeks/$350

Int/Advanced Teen Film Acting introduces much more challenging scenework for teen actors. More advanced technique exercises are brought into play, and scenes are specifically selected to develop new skills and tackle more difficult material. This class places in motion the skills learned in the basics class, plus continues to add new techniques. Students practice their skills not only through weekly taping and analysis, but through multi-camera tapings which recreate actual on-set techniques. Many of our students take this class several times; each student’s goals are set by the individuals and tailored to their specific talents and needs. This class runs for 12 weeks and includes a scene screening night at the end of the session.

Pre-Teen Film Acting (ages 11 – 13) This eight week class is similar to our Teen Basics class, but focuses on age appropriate exercises and material.
Monday afternoon 4:00 – 5:30pm/8 weeks/$250
